A simple guide

Not sure what type of mediation you need?

That is completely normal. Here is a simple guide to help you find the right path.

Workplace mediation

This is for you if:

  • You are an employee, manager or HR professional dealing with conflict in a work setting.
  • Your dispute involves colleagues, line managers or employment relationships.
  • You want to resolve things before a formal grievance or tribunal process begins.

Community mediation

This is for you if:

  • Your dispute involves a neighbour, housing association, landlord or someone in your local community.
  • The conflict is affecting your home life, wellbeing or sense of safety.

Conflict resolution coaching

This is for you if:

  • You are a manager who needs support dealing with conflict in your team.
  • You want to build your own skills and confidence around conflict.

Other types of mediation

Mediation covers a wide range of situations. Here are two areas that fall outside my current practice, and where to find the right help.

Family mediation

Family mediation covers separation, divorce and child arrangements. It is a distinct and heavily regulated area of practice, requiring specialist accreditation separate from workplace and community mediation. It is not a service I currently offer. If you need a family mediator, the Family Mediation Council maintains a directory of accredited practitioners at fmc.org.uk.

Civil and commercial mediation

Commercial mediation covers business disputes, contract disagreements and professional relationships between organisations. This is outside my current practice, though it is an area I intend to develop. If you have an urgent commercial dispute, I am happy to point you toward the right resources.

Still not sure? Get in touch and I will help you work out the right approach. There is no obligation.
